Certified Substance Abuse Counselor III, you will support the
community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming
services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder
Treatment Program (ISUDTP). What You Will Do: Deliver treatment
programming services to participants and conduct group and/or
individual sessions. Effectively implement scheduled program
curriculum. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and
individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive
behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes. Engage
participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for
participation and completion. Works directly with participants to
develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate
participants about supportive networks as they return to the
community. Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment
progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior and
demeanor of program participants. Maintains accurate, timely, and
confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the
progress of participants assigned to their groups. Completes all
delivery documentation requirements. Summarizes participants’
background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes. Prepares
accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are
consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable
clinical and administrative rules. Liaise with transition/reentry
staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by
CDCR for continued community program activities. May mentor
Counselor I and II Level AOD Counselors/OMCP Mentors. Works
collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff.
Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to
Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors. Participate in
monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical
assistance training, or other training as appropriate. Other duties
as assigned. What You Will Bring: A Master’s Degree in a social
service-related field; and Licensed by, or registered with, the
Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Registered with an AOD certifying
organization recognized by DHCS; OR A Bachelor’s Degree in a social
service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of
experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
An Associate’s Degree in social service-related field, AOD
certified, and one (1) year of experience providing SUDT services
as a certified AOD Counselor; OR AOD certified and more than two
(2) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD
Counselor. An understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of
substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological,
physical, and social effects of drug abuse. Excellent
interpersonal, written communications, and typing skills.
Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures
generated by association with substance abuse treatment
participants. Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain
professional standards and safeguard the participant. Protect and
maintain program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and
confidentiality of records and participant information. What We
